COSTUME CONTESTS
Welcome to the Costume Contests at teh 31st Annual END of TRAIL! For over three decades, costuming has been a major factor in maintaining END of TRAIL's uniqueness as a shooting competition. Costuming creates both the environment and shared attitude that sets the tone for camaraderie unequaled in other shooting events. Becasure costuming is such an important aspect of our sport and is ebraced with much effort and fervor by so many members, our costume winners have consistently shared honors with our shooters.

Some changes and updates have been made to the costume contests at the 31st Annual END of TRAIL. This year, the Best Dressed Costume Judging and Awards will be held Thursday night, June 21st. Judging will take place in the GEM Saloon and Awards will be given later that evening in the Belle Union Saloon. All other costume awards will be given Friday night, June 22nd. All cosutme contest entrants MUST be active SASS members.

Monday, June 18
Wild Bunch Costume Contest Judging On The Range

Monday is the day to suit up as your favorite character from the Wild Bunch film or in a military uniform of that era to be judged by a panel of roving judges while you are participating in the Wild Bunch Match.  Categories are Male and Female and awards will be given from 1st – 3rd place at the Wild Bunch Awards Ceremony to be held in the Belle Union Saloon, Friday, June 22 at 5:00 PM.



Thursday, June 21

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Shooting Costumes Contest Judging at the Gem Saloon

*NOTE: The costume being judged MUST be the costume in use on the range. All of the following awards will be presented in the Belle Union Saloon Friday, June 22nd from 5:00-6:00 PM.

Daytime Costumes Contest:
The majority of the END of TRAIL costume contests judging will take place during the day on Thursday and Friday, June 21 and 22, 2012.  Daytime shooting costume categories are Male, Female, and Juniors.  Daytime Costumes will be judged by a panel of judges.  Regardless of which shooting relay you are on, you should have ample time to participate.  You do not have to pre-register.  Just show up at the designated times and sign in at the Gem Saloon.  Awards are for 1st to 3rd place.

Best Dressed Conventioneers:
Conventioneers receive their own awards and are judged at the same times as the Daytime Costume Contests.  No pre-registration is required.  Just show up and sign in at the Gem Saloon.  Categories are Male, Female, and Junior. Awards will be given 1st to 3rd.

• Waddie Costume Award:
Waddies are those hard-working volunteers that have made END of TRAIL a success for over three decades, and they deserve their own costume awards! If you are a Waddie, you must take a breatk from your duties and come tot he GEM Saloon during judging times to participate. A first place Waddie Shooting Costume Award will be given to a Male and Female Waddie.

• Best Guncart:
Bring that fancy guncart to the GEM Saloon for Judging on Thursday and Friday during designated judging times. Awards will be given for 1st-3rd place.

• Best Dressed Sutler:
Sutlers participate in END of TRAIL in order to sell their goods. So, our judges will be roaming Sutler's Row taking photos during the event. A first place award will be given to the Best Dressed Male and Female Sutler.

 


5:00 PM - 6:30 PM - Best Dressed Costume Contest Judging in the GEM Saloon

Best Dressed categories are Male, Female, Couples, Military, B-Western/Silver Screen Male & Female, and Juniors. All categories are awarded 1st - 3rd place. No pre-registration is required. Just come to the GEM Saloon, sign in, and present your costume to our panel of judges.

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM - Best Dressed Costume Awards (and Promenade) in the Belle Union Saloon

Time to promenade those fantastic costumes in front of the audience at the Side Match and Best Dressed Awards Ceremony!

 

Friday, June 22

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Daytime Costumes Contest at the Gem Saloon
Continuation of all the Thursday Daytime Costume Contests described above.

5:00 PM - ALL Costume Contest Awards (Except Best Dressed- Best Dressed will have been awarded on Thursday evening)

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM Derringers & Daggers- Soiled Doves/Parlour House Madams at the BELLE UNION SALOON

No pre-registration is required, but you must be a SASS member, and you must be at the Belle Union by 6:00 PM to sign up and participate.  Costumes must be era-appropriate.  Soiled Dove costumes should reflect the spirit of the “Cheyenne Social Club” and may portray a bordello working girl or a society prostitute.  Parlour House Madam costumes should reflect the “older, but wiser businesswoman” of the era — the proprietress or manager of the “salon.”  Awards will be given from 1st to 3rd place in each category that evening immediately after the judging by a panel of judges.
